The Experience
Where do I begin?! Well, for starters. This summer was hard, it challenged me and pushed my limits, spiritually and sometimes even physically... This summer was rewarding; I made fourteen new life long friends that I cannot imagine never knowing. This summer was an education; I learned and experienced what life is like living in a third world country -- the people of Zimbabwe taught me about happiness and contentment, joy and love. This summer was about Jesus; I hid His words away in my heart, did His work, worshiped Him, spoke about Him, learned about His faithfulness, and the importance of being quiet enough -- being focused and undistracted enough -- to hear His voice.
This summer was worth it, and the only people that will fully an completely be able to understand what I mean are the people who went through it with me. The ones who felt the joy that I felt playing with hundreds of adoring children, and the ones who felt the deep sadness that I felt when treating another person with severe cataracts. The ones who prayed with and for me, the ones who struggled with me, and uplifted and encouraged me, the ones who shared inside jokes with me the ones who worshiped with me under the African stars, the ones who cried and laughed with me.
That's what's weird about an event like this. My perspective has changed, my understanding of the world has altered a little bit, and my team members are truly the only people that understand.... Because I am not really able to fully explain, to describe everything. And I am so blessed and utterly thankful for the wonderful people God put beside me.
Two months later, one new continent, two new countries, one trip to Victoria Falls, 8,000 people, 3 new brothers, 11 new sisters, and here I am! And in no small part is that due to those of you who helped me get there. Thank you for sacrificing your money and your time praying for me. Goodness! What would I have done without you?? God is good.
Much Love.
